2007 Convoy in the Books

The 2007 edition of the Worlds Largest Truck Convoy has rolled through Reno and it was a blast.

Hosted by our friends at the Petro Travel Center in Sparks the convoy was full of fun and surprises for evertyone involved. Live music was performed by Debbie Sparks who in addition to having a great voice is a driver for Landstar. Athletes were on hand to have fun and chat it up with the drivers, as well they proved to be great judges for the mini truck show that was held prior to the convoy.

NHP Troopers were on hand to provide the convoy escort and also to enjoy the festivities and lunch. At @ 10:00 am it was time to take the convoy to the streets as drivers followed the NHP troopers down I-80 to Verdi and back. It was fun seeing the NHP with lights flashing, blocking traffic as the truckers made their way down the highway.

After returning to the Petro Travel Center a great lunch was served by the athletes and supplied by Applebees. Great ribs, chicken and all the fixins filled everyone up fast.

Next it was time for awards to be presented ... Cool model trucks with the convoy logo were presented in different catagories bringing smiles to the drivers faces.

As a special treat to the Reno Convoy this year we welcomed Howard and Pam Hart (and Jazz the amazing trucking dog) from OOIDA. What a beautiful sight to see the 'Spirit of the American Trucker' in our little convoy. The Harts also took home the 'Most Blinged Out Truck' award.

As you can tell, we had a great time at the Reno Convoy and are making plans for the 2008 convoy even as we speak. If you missed this year, you can get started now to participate in next years convoy. So make plans for 2008 and get ready to have fun and make a difference when The Worlds Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics rolls into Reno in 2008.
